.Introduction: At the end of 2021, we partnered with the MUSA factory to launch and produce a fresh new flathead single-cylinder gasoline engine based on the 'Whippet' engine Edgar T. Westbury (ETW) designed in the 1960s. It had a lasting effect on many model engine fans and gamers, who complimented its superb performance and fine artistry. In response to the strong demand from the players, in March 2023, we presented you an advanced version of ETW's earlier work, based on the "Kittiwake" engine from the 1940s, reinterpreted as the "RED DOG" engine.

.A Tribute to the Classic: More engine model lovers and gamers will experience a sense of retro nostalgia and resonance with the FV1A engine, which will also get much attention and conversation.

.Exquisite Appearance: This little four-stroke vertical single-cylinder engine has an OHV valve train, a small design, a green and black color scheme, and a distinctive appearance.Creative Design: The engine components feature unique, extremely delicate geometric shapes. The pushrod-operated overhead valve features a very intricate V-shaped configuration.

.Strong Power: The engine's long stroke design and strong torque output make it a great power source for rope boats and water planes.

Cooling Method: The vast area of cooling fins ensures a reasonable and adequate air-conditioning effect. Adding an external water pump later to operate the engine is possible.

.Lubrication Method: The engine can receive better lubrication and have a longer service life thanks to the built-in oil pump, wet oil sump, and independent lubrication system.

.Ignition Method: uses the special ignition breaker assembly and anti-overflow oiler (mechanical external ignition).

.Material Selection: Superior metal components, mostly aluminum alloy, brass, and steel, go into making the engine.  

.Processing Technology: The center and cylinder head may be cast, but the body is made with CNC technology. The crankshaft is hardened and constructed from a single piece of steel. The engine has an old-school industrial mechanical feel to it thanks to the anodized or electrophoretically colored surface of the custom-made metal steel piston ring.

.Excellent Collection: The FV1A engine model complements any model display and is a highly collectible and eye-catching engine. For those interested in mechanics, it also makes a beautiful personalized present.

What is flathead engine?

A flathead engine, also known as a side-valve engine or valve-in-block engine, is an internal combustion engine with poppet valves housed within the engine block instead of in the cylinder head, as in an overhead valve engine.

Automotive manufacturers employed flathead engines worldwide from the late 1890s until the mid-1950s. However, more efficient overhead valve and overhead camshaft engines eventually displaced flatheads. These days, low-revving aero-engines like the D-Motor are seeing a renaissance.

We introduced this brand-new flathead engine (L-head engine) using the prototype Whippet engine Edgar T. Westbury (ETW) created in 1963 and our design philosophy. Despite being the most basic tiny engine in power equipment, many will commend it for being in good operating order.

From an aesthetic standpoint, it provides the four-stroke engine with a distinctively small appearance—side valve design, primary structure, and not too hefty. The engine's retro industrial green texture is displayed via the electrophoresed paint treatment on its integrated crankshaft, made of aluminium with CNC finishing and toughened for long-lasting paint. Due to the distinctive design of the exhaust pipe and carburetor, the engine's performance won't be less than that of an OHCC or OHV.
