What are the Top 10 RC Crawlers?

Which RC rock crawlers are the best? We've reduced the options to only ten crawlers because new models are released every year at varying pricing ranges, sizes, and features. Over the years, these are the trucks that have most impressed us or caught our attention. Starting with number ten and working our way up to the top RC crawler, we'll go through each one individually.

#10 - HobbyPlus CR-18 Mini Crawler

The first car on our list is the HobbyPlus CR-18 Mini Crawler, a 1/18 scale, four-wheel-drive crawler that offers a distinctive crawling viewpoint. The most affordable crawler on our list, the CR-18, provides a fully functional crawler experience with a variety of scale bodies, including the Harvest and this crimson Kratos. These Lexan-made bodies have hard plastic scale detailing and an aggressive appearance. The CR-18 chassis has two auxiliary connectors for adding your lighting, an FPV camera, or other accessories, and it has waterproof electronics that can operate for up to 45 minutes. Naturally, you will need to provide your own FPV equipment for FPV use, but it is possible. Batteries are included in the CR-18 micro crawlers, which are available for $139.99* as ready-to-run trucks or as kits to assemble.

#9 - Axial SCX24

The next truck on our list, the 1/24th scale Axial SCX24, is so little that it looks just as comfortable inside as it does outdoors. This little truck comes in a variety of body types and colours and is small enough to fit in your hand. The trucks' scaled-down crawler chassis, which has solid axles, lock differentials, and your standard-length suspension to get you over obstacles like rocks, couches, and keyboards, is what lies beneath those bodies. A wide range of aftermarket hop-ups are also available for the Axial SCX24 in case you want to improve your crawling experience or need a fresh look. All SCX24 variants, which start at $109.99*, are operational and require no additional hardware.

#8 - Redcat Gen8 V2

The Redcat GEN8 V2, which is ranked number eight, immediately became well-known for being both capable and attractive without breaking the bank. Redcat's top trail truck crawler, the GEN8, is built to the correct 1/10 scale standard, which is what most aftermarket body tyres and wheels are designed for. If you want to add any of that to your GEN8 V2, it won't be an issue. Additionally, Redcat offers a variety of 3D printable pieces that you can print yourself, paint, and install on your vehicle if you have a 3D printer. But maybe we'll put it off for another time and enjoy the GEN8 with its battery tray, low centre of gravity, portal axles, and brushed waterproof crawler electronics as is. The GEN8 V2 ready-to-run vehicle costs $329.99*, and a battery pack is necessary.

#7 - RC4WD Trail Finder 2

This is RC4WD's Trail Finder 2, so if you've been waiting for a luxurious scale truck experience, don't wait any longer. The only crawler on our list featuring a hard plastic body kit with a dropped bed that you can sand paint and modify to your liking is the 1/10 scale TF2, which was designed with a focus on scale appearance and has been a fan favourite for years. Naturally, you don't have to, though, as the Trail Finder 2 is offered as a painted, crawl-ready, ready-to-run. Beneath that body, the TF2 has a centre-mounted transfer case, an aluminium transmission, and leaf spring suspension throughout to emphasize its stature further. You can get a lot more flex out of the suspension with these adjustable leaves and aftermarket leaves and shackles. The link kit is one of the many aftermarket scale accessories that are available. Last but not least, if you grow weary of utilizing those leaf springs, the Trail Finder 2 is available ready to use in a few different models, with prices starting at $429.99*. One battery pack is needed.

#6 - Axial Capra 1.9

Introducing number six, the Axial Capra 1.9 Unlimited Trail Buggy, for those looking for more unadulterated crawling capability. Everywhere from the centre gearbox to the lockers and axles, the 1/10th scale Capra boasts metal gears and a realistic tube chassis design. Additionally, the portals improve ground clearance, and these are Curry F9 axles with genuine licenses. Additionally, the tyres are extended for a more aggressive and stable stance by the wide axles. Additionally, the Capra has a complete 4-link suspension system up front and back because the steering servo mounts directly to the front axle. The Capra's dig unit, which enables you to drive the front tyres while dragging the back, is another excellent feature. This function is controlled by the transmitter, which also assists the Capra in controlling steep descents and tight bends as necessary. For $449.99*, you may get the Axial Capra as a ready-to-run device with brushed electronics or as a kit to personalize as you construct. It does require a battery.

#5 - SSD RC Trail King Pro

The SSD RC Trail King Pro is the next car on our list, and it comes with a scale kit that is prepared for your detailing. Since SSD has been producing optional components for years, it is appropriate that they compile everything into a whole crawler kit. This isn't your typical crawler, either. Among the first of its kind, this 1/10 scale truck has a multi-piece moulded plastic V8 engine that conceals the electric motor by sitting over it. There are more than 14 parts in this V8 engine, and you may paint and decorate them however you choose. A scale transmission and transfer case are incorporated into the chassis to go along with these scale appearances. When it's time to crawl, they not only look fantastic but also provide all tyres with four-wheel drive torque. With its robust front and rear axles, titanium alloy suspension links, and all-metal gears, the Trail King Pro will be right there with you as you traverse the terrain. Since the Trail King Pro is merely a chassis kit, you are free to customize the truck's parts and scale design as you see fit. The SSD RC Trail King Pro kit costs $369.99* and includes the body, tyres, wheels, radio gear, and electrical components.

#4 - Element RC Enduro

The Element RC Enduro, a relatively new truck to the crawler scene, quickly gained popularity on the trail and holds the fourth position. The Enduro series comes in a few different 10th-scale vehicle models that are slightly modified for their various applications and are offered in both kit and ready-to-run form. The Trailwalker is a typical link suspension vehicle with two solid axles that are prepared for the steady grind on the path for the real deal. By eliminating the front axle and installing a double-wishbone independent front suspension, the Enduro Trailrunner also adds a distinctive twist. The Enduro Gatekeeper's updated rear-end configuration is ideal for high-power applications and aggressive driving. Thus, it's perfect for high-performance applications. Regardless of the type, however, all Enduro trucks use the same overdriven Stealth X Gearbox and the same behind-the-axle steering for a more streamlined and scaled-up front end. The Enduro Trucks are available as ready-to-run versions that start at $299.99* and require a battery pack, as well as kits that you may personalize as you construct.

#3 - Vanquish VS410

The truck in our number three position, the Vanquish Products VS410, is ideal for anyone looking for the ultimate high-end experience. Vanquish Products has established a solid reputation over the years for producing high-quality, in-house machined accessories that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also long-lasting. Therefore, it was only a question of time until they assembled all of those optional components to produce the ultimate luxury trail vehicle. The Vanquish VFD transmission is one of the features of the VS410. Other features include inner fender wells, scale body and interior, steel gears, steel centre drive shafts, dual servo mounts, aluminium fully approved F9 Curry axles and more. Additionally, the VS410 Pro is available in both black anodized and the raw appearance known as evident. If you prefer straight Curry axles, you may also use the Curry portal axles, which are part of the VS410 Ultra Kit. The Vanquish VS410 Pro kit starts at $749.99*, however it does need all radio equipment and electrical parts.

#2 - Axial SCX10

The Axial SCX10 is one of the game's oldest crawlers, 1/10 size, and extremely upgradeable. One of the first trail trucks to be mass-produced, the SCX10 swiftly gained popularity as the preferred choice for trail fun scale projects and became the subject of numerous option components. Even though there are plenty of competent trucks available today, the SCX10 can still compete with its SCX10 II and the most recent SCX10 III. Both models are offered with the SCX10 III, which improves performance and scale realism over the previous model. It also features a scale interior, hidden body clips, a two-speed transmission, and portal axles. Axial provides the SCX10 6x6 ready-to-run vehicle, which has all the power and grip that only a 6x6 can offer, for those looking for something a little more extreme and distinctive. The SCX10 III ready-to-run truck costs $499.99*, and the SCX10 II ready-to-run truck starts at $329.99*. Both vehicles need a battery.

#1 - Traxxas TRX-4

One of the most adaptable trail truck platforms on the market, our top spot may be easily upgraded, altered, and transformed. It's the Traxxas TRX-4, the one and only. With its two-speed transmission, remote locking differentials, and usage of portal axles at a time when they were not as common, the TRX-4 was a trailblazer when it was first introduced. Many other TRX-4 trucks with classic body shapes that are so scaled that you might double-take have been released by Traxxas in the years since the number one spot is one of the most versatile trail truck platforms available that can be upgraded with ease, customized, and transformed. It's the one and only Traxxas TRX-4. When it was released, the TRX-4 was ahead of the curve, offering remote locking differentials and a two-speed transmission, and it used portal axles when portal axles were not so popular. In the years since, Traxxas has released many other TRX-4 trucks and iconic body styles that so scale you may do a double-take. Traxxas offers a whole lot more than bodies. The TRX-4 has tons of accessories and option parts that are a direct drop-in fit, with things like complete light kits for those scale bodies. There's also the TRX-4 lift kit to raise the truck and use larger 2.2 tyres. Traxxas also offers their track kit, which puts shock-supported paint tracks on each corner — these are excellent in loose conditions, and they look great. Traxxas also offers their TRX-6 6x6 if you want to go in that direction because it's up to you. And with the TRX-4, it's one of the most accessible and versatile platforms to create whatever you want it to be. We haven't even talked about all the other brands' option parts, but let me tell you, the selection is immense. That's why we chose the TRX-4 as our number one crawler and the best part is you can pick up the TRX-4 Sport ready-to-run for only $369.95*, and it does require a battery pack.
