August Spotlight Drivers: Ronda & Adam Drake

How they got their Start

We started by asking how long the two had been racing RC cars, and they both began at about the same time. After 28 years, Ronda began driving in 1990, and Adam did the same in 1991!

When he was younger, Adam used to bash several remote-controlled vehicles. But he never looked back until he discovered the nearby track and began racing.

Once I realized there was a local track, I started racing and the rest was history. I was hooked" - Adam Drake.

Ronda was first introduced to the sport when her brother-in-law handed her a Kyosho Raider for Christmas!

The Drake Arsenal

At the moment, Ronda operates a 1/8th scale Mugen Seiki Buggy and Truggy. Adam, on the other hand, is presently operating PR Racing 1/10th scale vehicles and Mugen Seiki 1/8th scale vehicles. We also wanted to find out how many remote-controlled cars each of them possessed.

The Drakes are devoted to Mugen Seiki in terms of brand loyalty. Mugen sponsors both Ronda and Adam!

"Mugen Seiki has always been my favorite car to race!" - Ronda Drake

"The products are amazing, and it's a great company to work for!" - Adam Drake.

We then sought to find out how frequently Drakes practice each week. Adam stated that he races almost every weekend and practices once a week on average. Ronda, on the other hand, races every weekend in addition to practising twice a week.

RC Car Travels

The Drakes may visit tracks all over the world since they are sponsored drivers! Italy, Belgium, Puerto Rico, and all over the United States are the furthest Ronda has ever travelled for a race. In order to defend his professional title, Adam has also made numerous trips.

Advice for Others

If the Drakes could travel back in time to their earliest racing days, we were interested in what they would tell themselves. The two most important pieces of advice Adam would provide to himself and others are to drive patiently and smoothly. Here at Adrenaline, we really adore this advice. It takes a lot of patience and effort to become proficient at something like RC car racing. Greatness is difficult to attain overnight, but it is possible if you remain committed to it. When we asked Ronda what advice she would give herself, her response made us laugh. "Let's not go back in time. lol," she remarked. According to her, RC car racing is a fantastic community to become part of and an enjoyable pastime for anyone. It's also a really hands-on and safe pastime, Adam added.

They both adore the opportunity to travel and compete together on a regular basis! Being able to share their pastime makes them very pleased!
